Acura to Public: New NSX In Detroit. Really! We Swear!
The Acura NSX was the everyman’s super sports car. It was also a car that could be driven comfortably and reliably everyday. For the past century, Acura has been promising a replacement to that car. They’ve shown us prototype after prototype.
At last year’s Detroit auto show, I didn’t even bother to look at the car, since I still believed it to be vaporware that’d never see the light of day. We’ve been burned before. But today Acura surprised us all by saying that a production-ready NSX will debut in Detroit less than a month from now. Really.

As much as I like giving Acura crap about a long production cycle, I’m really excited to see the new NSX. We’ll have all the succulent details about the turbo hybrid performance engine, performance all-wheel drive system, and more on January 12th.
The car is expected to be produced in Marysville, Ohio alongside the Honda Accord. But don’t knock sports cars built in the boonies; the Corvette is built in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
From what I can tell, all the current Acura design cues are there, including the multi-LED headlamps and angular edges. If you turn the video up, you can hear what we assume to be the engine and exhaust note from the production car, but that could be synthesized for the video.
I’m a fan of Acura / Honda performance vehicles. I had a Honda S2000 and it was one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. Even if I’m fatigued by all the teasing, I’m really looking forward to the car’s debut to see how it’ll stack up against the established supercar makers.
