Watch in Dismay as This 2-Seater BMW DTM Racer Blitzes the Nurburgring!
Taking a hot-lap on a 2-seater race car has got to be one of the coolest things ever. Personally, I wouldn’t know, as even though my Dad participated in GT endurance races in the eighties, 2-seaters just plainly didn’t exist back then.
Perhaps motivated by a media-frenzy world, and designed as one more way to “wow” the sponsors to get them to shell out more bucks, someone had the genius idea to bolt a second seat on a pretty wild BMW DTM race car. If you’re not too familiar, DTM stands for Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, and is Germany’s and most of Europe’s premiere racing class. Think of it as NASCAR to America or V8 Supercars to Australia.
This sick video comes to us from the, Nürburgring YouTube channel, and it features Augusto Farfus Jr. piloting his 480 horsepower BMW M4 DTM race car around the famous green hell. The stunt was in fact done for a sponsor’s promotional campaign, and it seems they trusted Augusto rather well. Then again, he did win the Nürburgring 24-Hours earlier this year, so whoever is crapping their pants in the passenger seat should be in good hands. Or so we hope…
