The Most Insane Golf You’ll Ever See!
Insanity. That’s the only word to describe this Golf. It’s not because it’s been stripped to only weigh 1,990 lbs. It’s not because the shop that built this monstrosity is named Asgard Performance after the legendary Norse Gods. No, it’s because this little, lightweight Golf is packing a twin-turbo Lamborghini V10 behind the driver’s seat.
Before though we get to the lunacy of that engine, let’s first talk about the weight savings. Taking a Mark IV Golf and making it only weigh a scant 1,990 lbs is a heck of a feat. That’s almost Lotus lightness, and that combined with the normal Golf engine would have made for a heck of a car.
However, the guys at Asgard Performance decided to turn it up to 19 and watch the world burn around them. That’s why they stuck a Gallardo’s power plant behind the front seats. Then to add to that bit more of insanity, they strapped two turbos onto the 5.2L V10 engine. That makes this car good for….1500 hp.
Uh, so do we just call up death now, or wait two minutes? To put that all in perspective, this Golf has a power to weight ratio that’s better than most hypercars. Heck, it’s better than most racecars. I wonder if the world begins to turn backwards if you stomp on the gas?
