Is It a Macan or a Macan’t?

Porsche got it wrong. That’s the title of an intriguing thread posted in the forum by 2020, a member from Atlanta about his new Macan Turbo.  When someone spends over $72,000 for a new toy, the last thing you’d expect is for it to suck.

But that’s what he posted about his recent addition to his garage. But how can that be? The Porsche Macan is a compact SUV that is supposed to handle like a sports car.

Macan Turbo

“Not impressed with the Macan Turbo. My 991tt drives much better and smoother in city traffic. The throttle is relatively muted in normal mode and peps up considerably in Sport mode,” 2020 posted.

“The Macan, however, is very sensitive. Touch the pedal slightly and the thing takes off. I have not noticed much of a difference between normal mode and Sport mode. On the 911 there is a considerable difference in which normal mode is quite tolerable for city driving,” he reports.

“This is my wife’s primary car and second guessing that we should have gotten the “S” instead of the turbo. Just curious of what others think,” he explains.

“I’m just over 2k miles on my Macan Turbo, I notice a considerable difference in throttle response between normal and sport. I love the vehicle, quick, agile, and nimble, while still offering a good amount of practicality,” says slw23 of Vegas.

So what’s your take on the new Macan Turbo? Maybe 2020 needs to trade it in for a Macan Turbo S when that model becomes available. In the meantime, we’ll have to organize a few test drives in order to determine who’s right.
