Man in China Sells Lambo Replica for $84,861

Most of the time replica cars are just plain awful. They’re like the terrible nightmare Twilight Zone verison of the original model. But sometimes the kit builder knows what they’re doing and the end result can be an impressive doppelganger. The white Murcielago falls into the second category and, suprise suprise, it was found in China.

The car was built on the shell of a second generation MR2. The car is already mid-engined, so the proportions are actually spot on. The fit on finish on the outside is also excellent. It would be really different to tell the difference between this car and the real deal from a distance. And really, that’s the ultimate compliment for a fake-anything. They’ve even re-done the interior to almost-as-good quality.

Perhaps the most outrageous part of this car is the price. It sold for 420,000 yuan or about $84,861. That is a lot of money for what is ultimately a MR-2 with some new trappings. I mean that’s Carrera money. At the very least it’s Cayman money. They might no be Lamborghini’s but at least they’re the real deal. Then again, the replica shopper is probably less concerned with the car, and more concerned with how the car will make him look. And really, if you’re going to be a poser, you might as well pose as a Lambo.
