EVO mag is back with a new contender for it’s “Leaderboard” challenge to see which manufacturer can really make the fastest track car. Today’s car, something of a ringer, is definitely in contention for the top spot. Yes, this is an up close and personal look at the McLaren P1 GTR track car. It’s slick tires, even crazier downforce and aero package paired with 986 horsepower means this is one seriously capable ride.

The commercial grade McLaren P1 isn’t exactly a subtle commuter car, but this P1 GTR is absolutely bonkers in comparison. The aero package would shame someĀ GT3 class race cars. This GTR hasĀ substantial weight reduction in the from of additional use of carbon fiber throughout the interior and exterior. The insane braking capability, aerodynamics, and reduced weight means the car’s tires can work really well, producing massive levels of grip.

He obtained a bachelor's degree in Political Science at the Ohio State University in 2013, then pivoted from covering politics and policy to writing about his automotive adventures, something that, he says, is a lot more fun. Since that time, he has established connections with most of the world's major automakers, as well as other key brands in the automotive industry.

He enjoys track days, drifting, and autocross, at least, when his cars are running right, which is uncommon.
