The Nissan GT-R is a hell of a performer. It’s relatively low price and ridiculous stats make it very close to an everyone’s supercar. However, many don’t know that the GT-R nameplate has been around for going on 45 years. To celebrate that heritage, Nissan is launching the 45th Anniversary Edition of the GT-R in Japan.

The car will come with a host of new upgrades and tweaks, including a slightly higher horsepower rating, increased levels of aerodynamics, and a much more finely tuned suspension system. It will also come with a special set of paints limited to the Anniversary Edition, as well as a plaque riveted to the top of the engine detailing the person who built it.

While the new GT-R’s updates haven’t been released to the rest of the world, it’s very likely that everything we are seeing on the Anniversary Edition will come to our shores as well. The Nissan GT-R has enjoyed constant updates since it was launched, and has made the car better and better each time. Given that, we might see those updates around the 2016 model year.

However, the car is showing its age lately, which is why Nissan has been making updates available faster and faster. We are due for a new GT-R relatively soon though, and even Nissan themselves have said they are hard at work on creating the next iteration. So keep an eye out for mules running around the ‘Ring in the next year or so. It should be something fantastic.
