Onboard at Course de Côte de St. Ursanne

hauser onboardI’m gearing up for a trip to Baltimore this weekend to bring 6speed the action trackside from the Baltimore Grand Prix. Baltimore’s street course that snakes through the harbor and Camden yards is one of the few places left in America where cars race on public roads.

Bingeing on onboard videos from Baltimore and the rest of the world’s street courses,  I found this and thought it deserved a share.   Driving is David Hauser.  He’s piloting a  Dallara GP2 machine through the streets and up the hill at the Course de côte de St. Ursanne. It’s a hillclimb event, but there’s much more to this event. It has elements of the race in Macau and Baltimore with an open wheel car attacking city streets. The onboard’s perspective does a fantastic job of showing how close the car is to houses, trees, and Armco. A little rally too with the fast sweepers and slow hairpins and forest scenery.

By the way, Houser finished 3rd at the event, and set the track record for his class. I can’t wait for the excitement that only comes from racing on public roads.
