1000 Horsepower? McLaren P1 GTR Teased
The almighty McLaren P1 hasn’t been on sale for more than a couple months and all have already been completely sold out. The amazing hybrid hyper car is by far one of the fastest road going cars on the planet and has already made a name for itself among the greatest supercars ever.
But all those awards and accolades mean nothing to McLaren. They are in it for the speed. That is why a few months ago they announced they would be building a one off limited run of track only P1. Now we have a greater idea of what it will look like.
Dubbed the P1 GTR, the track only edition of the P1 will have greater use of lightweight materials, increased downforce, and somehow more power. The standard road car has 903 hp, no slouch, but the new P1 GTR will have a rumored 1000 hp! For something that weighs so little, with that much horsepower, the need for amazing amounts of down force is definitely needed.
The car is set to debut at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California on August 17th. The limited run track hyper car will only begin production when the final P1 has rolled off the assembly line around June of next year.
Now if only McLaren, Porsche and Ferrari will bring all their hybrid hypercars to LeMans and race them, my world would be complete.
