Because metal hoses will be susceptable to heat soak.

The engine heat will transfer the heat to the hoses which heats up the heat your engine is ingesting. Thus causing a loss in power and a hotter engine (then it's a vicious cycle).

IMHO aluminum insulated pipes would be the best. Mandrel bent, no kinks, no power-robbing expansion under boost. Hook it up with some silicone couplers and Turbonetics t-bolt clamps and it'd be indestructable. Any decent muffler shop (in the US) can weld it up for you given a template. I can't imagine it'd cost more than a hundred or two, everything included...
