I just wanted to take this opportunity to promote the AKA Rally being hosted by several 6speedonline.com members that will be a part of a special 6 episode series on Speed TV w/ Casting Calls beginning already. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL..........AND IT IS TIME........ www.akarally.com



The AKA Rally started in 2004 (some of you may have already seen this unbelievable rally w/ some of its participants on an episode of MTV's True Life: about a real world car rally across the country) with the goal of opening a true, cross-country rally experience to everyone who loves to drive. The 2007 AKA Rally went from Salt Lake City to Atlantic City, NJ, and featured top speed runs on the Bonneville Salt Flats. This year's AKA Rally will cast its participants in a 6 episode series to air on Speed TV. The 2008 rally will begin in NYC on August 18 and end in SIN CITY - Las Vegas on August 25th. That sounds awesome... but $3,250.00? That's pretty pricey and I am sure that you have to bring your own gasoline.

Real question is how do I get back to New York from Las Vegas after this doodad is over and done with?

 

LOL! AKA is the most inexpensive rally out there that actually delivers a good event. Bullrun & Player's run are both over $10k. Gumball is 30 - 90k depending on the year and the weakness of the US Dollar. And yeah, gas is on you.

As far as what you get for your cash: hotels, dinner, events, parties, etc for 2 people. Plus you have a chance to be featured on TV. I think over the 6 episodes everyone will get some airtime, and 5-6 teams will be featured more in-depth.

A lot of people will be shipping their cars back. Last year a bunch of cars were shipped from NJ to SLC for under $1500 each. Or you can always make the drive if you don't mind the mileage. Plenty of people have done it in 2-3 days or less.
