I always thought that red, white, black , silver are basic colors where each have loyal buyers in high numbers .

 

Well I just got my trade in number from my dealer on my 08 turbo for my GT2, it has 1900 miles and had a sticker of 150k they are giving me 130k and I am very happy with that number.

 

That is a great number but think about it this way - only ~10.00/mile depreciation. As most turbos aren't driven a lot of miles, isn't it amazing the beating we take when we get rid of these cars.

 

A better indicator of value though would be what you could get in a private sale. Dealers have too many ways to get to the price they want with the new car price and the trade allowance.

 

The tax saving is about $9100 with the trade so in essense it would be like $139K in actual dollars. You know they are going to put it up for 148K and put an extended warranty on it.

yyralis1 - For certain years there are certain colors that are in demand and I think that drives desirability. That is just my opinion. Although I do like red a lot I would not buy it and it is region specific as well.

You didn't see many white 993's and the blacks and silvers seem to draw the most money before the reds, blues, etc.

 

I just broke 10K miles and had it for about a year. Most of those miles were 3 trips to Florida.

Sometimes you look around and you see a Turbo with 1K miles on it and its been over a year. What is the point? A highend collectible exotic or a classic exotic I can understand but we know we are not buying a limited edition Turbo so why not put the miles on it. You will take a beating no matter what so might as well enjoy it while getting beat

 

Thats exactly my line of thinking, I am very happy with that number.

When they asked me what I was looking for I told them 135K with all my modification on the car and they came back with 130K and they will give me my Tubi exhaust and Werks cold air intake back to sell to make up the difference. I was ok with that

 

I don't see where you get 180K unless you are going to load it up with porsche worthless options like wood and carbon fiber every where. With what is going with the economy and new engine etc 180K is still way high unless you are talking about tax, license, insurance et. or unless you buy from a dealer that scalps these cars.

 

Noah - Have you seen the price options on the new 997 and 997S ? I don't know how it will translate onto the Turbo but it was posted on the 997 forum that a C4S Targa spec was 136K . I've seen a C2 997 spec at 95K .

Yes they have options but not over the top either .

It is my opinion that the used Turbo market will climb . A used Turbo with 5K miles is a bargain compared to a $20K more C4S . I speculate that buyers will see that and so will the used car sales folks .

 

I've got 14,500 miles on mine in 6 months. I wonder what the value will be in 3 years when my lease is over and it has probably 60,000-70,000 on it. I love the car and I'd want to buy it, but the residual will be nowhere near what the car is worth.

 

My 2007 car with 2.5k miles 20 wheels, Tubi and GAIC ECU...was bought at champion Motors for 165k...in May 2007...I bought in May 2008...for 118k with all those options + new stock wheels...so I would assume low mile 2007 car costs not more then 110-115k max now...especially when authum is coming...but I not sure if season matters in US...for some states probably yes for some no...

I agree 100% I mean your totally right, ppl buy cars & dont drive them & when it come to selling there cars, they start crying. I really dont understand.

 

Yes I did. I loaded up a 911 carrera cab top of the line (whatever that is) and came out at around 110K+ (with the extra 35hp option) and that is one reason I went for the turbo cab---cause the price diff for what you get was IMHO ridiculously small. If you think the price of the used turbos will go up, then I am all for it. But the base on a tt noncab is about 126K now so I don't think in 2-3 years it will 180K. If it is I may have to move up to a diff car, which I would hate to do. At about 200k the ball game changes.

By the way I saw your post on how you would sell your current car if it were to be sold. I really think you are a bit optimistic. If I didn't know you from the forum I would approach your car with a lot of caution. I would see the mods and figure at some point you have used them to the hilt. My philosophy on moded cars, is that for the extra money I would rather buy new and do my own mods cause no one "takes care of his porsche like I do" You need a special kind of person and buyer to buy such a car as you have.

Also I have yet to figure out what this completely new engine means to pricing etc. Love to hear comments about this. I think the new engine represents what porsche had to do for emissions and not necessarily better??? All I know is with the chip and mufflers I already out power the new version by a lot. It will be interesting to see what the tuners come up with for the new engine.
