That sucks to hear man, but it's one of the hazards you sign up for when modifying a car. Otherwise that's what the warranty is for. As Markski said, it could have been a vacuum connection came loose, bad gas, stuck actuator, anything.
I've blown engines before on DSMs - one a ring land from running too lean (30lbs through a clipped big 16G even on an 044 pump will do that, lol), and the other a freak timing belt mishap. Each time it sucked (however the cost was nowhere near a P-car), but the knowledge gained from rebuilding each stronger than new more than offset the initial pain.
