Looking at getting a 997S and have been shopping around for a while. I like the prices on the 05's but the 06's are dropping quite a bit too. What do you guys think would be a fair price on this one?

I saw this car for sale when i was looking for mine.

When I was looking, he had it for sale for $72-74K.

Looks like a good deal. Maybe you can negotiate a little too.

Thanks for the input guys. Started checking around a couple of dealers today and found a brand new one with the same options that they would deal for 80k. So confused as to whether the 15k would be worth it for a brand new car.

Depreciation wise -no
Peace of mind wise - yes

Tough call .
The hardest part for me would be paying 80K and then wanting the new 09 at 95-100 . Then again I would want a used Turbo at 110 -115 over the 09 .

It all depends on your spending limit . The cheapest way into a Porsche is that car you posted .

Very true. I think I may just have to bite the bullet and start searching for a Turbo. To me that's always been the pinnacle anyway, but I've wondered whether that may be too much to handle for my first P car.

Don't necessarily equate a turbo with "the pinnacle." The 997s are incredble machines, and most of what a turbo gives you is lost on american roads. I would caution against a turbo for your first Porsche.

A friend of mine gave up his Turbo lease last week as he only drove the car 3K miles in one year . The car has given him one year of outstanding reliability and is located at a porsche dealership in Northern California . The car has most of the preferred options except it lack the axle lock differential . It's a white Turbo. He never modified the car and pampered it. It's completely stock .

In my opinion anyone who gets that car has found a well kept used Turbo .

I just purchased my first P car and couldn't be happier. It's an '06 C4S. Eventually, I'd like to work my way up the ladder either to a turbo and/or a GT3.

Since August 2008, all certified Porsches have the full factory warranty. It's a no brainer to me. Go for an 06 with low miles, and you'll have the full factory warranty until '12. By then, you'll be ready to move on to another bigger, better, newer P car. You get the best of both worlds, peace of mind and value.

I recall seeing a 335i with your color combination on another forum (BMW) that i post on . Hence the name "Superman" reminded me of it.
Now that you no longer have it I have to say that your new car is amazing . I think the C4S in white is stunning.

That is a nice looking car. Mine is pretty similar and I purchased in Feb CPO from dealer with a new set of tires for $64K. Mine is pretty well equipped and have been very happy with it. I have driven a couple of turbos and in the end have been very very happy with the S. After several track days it is more than fast enough. This is my second P-Car moving up from a 986 boxster S. They were asking $70 so I am sure there is room in that number.

Good luck you will enjoy the S.
