997 TT beats GT-R at Ring. Nissan accused of cheating.
This is the neverending thread. That is, until Porsche comes out with PDK and DI and embarasses Nissan while still maintaining a warranty.
Porsche should take someone to Tsukuba and beat the fastest stock GT-R time and put it on youtube. That would be awesome.

What?????? Wow the only place the GTR seems to win any races is in Australia and Japan.
OMG! That cannot be. Tiger Woods must suck now. I mean he lost to a #56 player and for the first time in the history of the masters no person ranked above #50 ever won a masters.
Moving foward...where are they now...Oh yeah look at Zach's record.
Just because you fix one pipe doesn't make you a plumber.
The lengendary Tiger Woods to most is the worlds best golf player period got beat by a #56 ranked player by the name of Zach Johnson by two strokes and lost the Masters. Not only that Zach was one of the highest scoring players in the history of the Masters.

So are you saying that the GTR is Tiger Woods and Zach Johnson is 911 Turbo? Cos the GTR has whipped the turbo's *** in EVERY FRICKEN TRACK TEST. It wasn't a one off caning, but in EVERY TEST. So there's your analogy with Tiger Woods and Zach Johnson mate. Worse yet, the turbo can't even do a 'Zach Johnson' on the GTR - it has'nt even fluke a win....

Correct me if i'm wrong but there are numerous track tests where the GTR is faster than the GT2 in the hands of a professional driver, and vice versa. So the two are pretty much even and which car wins pretty much depends on the track layout.

In VERY skilled hands, around most tracks, I think the GT2 should be faster than GT-R.
I suspect, however, that if you randomly selected 100 Porsche owners from 6SPeed and gave them a day in the GT2 on track and a day in the GT-R on track, that 90% would be faster in the GT-R--- plus you'd probably end up with a few wrecked GT2s.
Here is food for thought..
There is (1) known motor in the ATL, GA area that has blown - no warranty. Call up Regal Nissan if they will tell you.
There are (2) known transmissions are toast - no warranty. One posted on here and the other was the blown motor as well with Regal Nissan.
Things happen and no one claims perfect cars on either side.
But if you are going to create a everymans supercar - wouldn't you think you would also put the cost of maitenance at the price point you are trying to market to?
5-6K - Brakes - no options at the moment but rotor/brake pad replacement combo.
1-1.5K - Fluid Changes - Every 1800Km if you race the car.
Oil Changes of $240-$300
Motor is around 60K at the moment
Transmission is around 12-18K? or is that more?
Tires are special to the Nissan and is around $2000-$2500?
This is not bashing on the GT-R - as I don't care about ring times as I can't drive it that fast and 99% of the people on here never will either.

Have you been in or driven a GTR ? It is very easy to drive and anyone can go fast in it ! One has to be a terrible driver to crash the GTR.
All the hype of the V-spec has evaporated - it is looking like the automotive equivalent of a stuffed bra

I own a 997s (also had owned 993 & 996) it is not fair to quote 1 or 2 isolated incident and say the GTR is bad. I know friends that owns GTRs, drive them hard and only change oil every 5-6000kms - NO problem at all for 50,000kms. One Premium edition GTR (all stock except with re-map ECU) went to race track last week. Compare with a heavily modified 997tt, the 997tt (slick tires) is 1:51 vs GTR 1:53 (stock tires) ! I know GTR is faster, but it won't make me want to replace my 997s with a GTR. The satisfaction of driving a Porsche can't be replaced !!
You are a litte late to the party arent' you? More than a few isolated cases and there are more than 30+ reported tranny problems ranging from noise to failure.
Solenoids can only be an excuse for so long. Where is the national campagin for updated software? I am sure it needs a few. BMW addressed this quickly and without blaming everyone else but themselves for the problems.
The track? Give me a break read the news with the GTR trackers. Hot tranny temps, brake not up to par for track, boiling brake fluid, cracked rotors, limp mode, etc. Tires chunking. yay for the R888's coming to the rescue. But wait Nissan says they can deny warranty on changing the wheels/tires out for aftermarket!!
No one is saying any car is perfect but you have more 1/4 mile fanboys then you do track junkies with the GTR's. Why is that? Can't say that about Porsche drivers and the Porsche brand.
"THE RING" times were Nissan's attempt at capturing the throne but what they did was capture the failure of their marketing efforts in an attempt the dethrone years of development and wins. Nissan can win all they want in Europe and Japan but that won't cut the mustard where it really counts.
I haven't said I wouldn't buy one. I have said until I see that Nissan can step up to the plate and get service and warranty in place I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole.
You can read the rest if you are interested not going to retype.
I have driven a GTR hard enough around the streets to know that it is not comfortable with the Run Flats and its not as fast as my Turbo 30-120. I know for a fact on that one and if it were I would not care as I have a complete package with warranty and a service department that has bent over backwards for me when asked.
Until Nissan can step up to Infinity's side of service they have lots of learn. Their sales people need a few lessons in "TRUTH" 101.
