Not true. Wheels magazine did a test with the GTR vs GT2 and use the same driver. The driver wasn't no journal either - he is a professional race driver who races in the Australian touring car championship. Anyway, he had extensive experience in the GT2 before but had never driven the GTR. On his second lap in the GTR on the Willow springs race track - he bet his personal best time in the GT2 by more than 2 secs. Everyone who was watching, including himself was in awe.
Both cars were driven by the same driver, on the same day and the track was dry.
