Price drop: GT3RS vs GT2
Price drop: GT3RS vs GT2
Folks-
The graph shows a very limited sample. I don't know how to display the S.E.M. on the graph, but will post the numbers in short order.
These represent my tough haggling with dealers as well as advertised prices from individuals, with the 2007 GT3RS having a sample size of 9, and the 2008 GT2 having a sample size of 6. The statistical significance was performed using ANOVA - again I will show these numbers later as I am at work now. The 2007 GT3RS cars had less than 2,500 miles on the odometers, and the 2008 GT2s were a combination of new and preowned with less than 2,500 miles.
The bottom line seems to be that advertised prices for the GT2 are much different than what you can actually buy them for now.

I like the presentation of your findings.... I agree that prices are coming down for these cars... and current prices are <$200K for GT2 and <$150K for GT3RS.
In August, I was offered a new 2008 black GT2 at MSRP ($203K) from a local dealer... the color was not my first choice (prefer silver) and it had adaptive sport seats (prefer new race seats) so I passed. I might consider GT3RS but more likely focus on F430.

gee the GT2's were all being offered at a "deal" for more then MSRP. Now they will take MSRP less 5k.
It takes a rare buyer to want a GT2. This is not a first, second or even third car for many. Not too much disposable income for a toy these days, buy the turbo its a much better choice.

Great info . It sounds logical yet here's the thought process for me :
Everything we own is worth less in a "recession" than it was in the past . Home value -down , cars- down and most (long) investments --down too .
As a result of the current economy the perception of a dollar changes for each individual . I have seen people subtracting food from their grocery bill --not because they can't afford it , but because the price isn't worth the item to them anymore . Why not do the same with a Gt2 ?
Do you recall the dot com 90's ? It was just the opposite . Buying an item with dot com dollars --the sky was the limit .
How things have changed in ten years .

Agree, today's price for F430 is too good to pass.....
05's at auction were selling 2 weeks ago at 165. So 155 for an 07 is a steal. Who ever bought that car will drive it for free.
