The guy who first claimed problems over at NAGTROC said that Nissan could not count the LC's but denied him warranty on the tranny due VDC being off and his tranny blew when it was off.
Then people over a NAGTROC jumped all over him and EXPERTS said their friends at NISSAN such as yours told him they can count the number of LC's. So either the EXPERTS at not EXPERTS, NISSAN folks are NOT EXPERTS or NISSAN is LYING. Which one is it?

Regrettably, there is not a ton of crystal clear data here. I have tried to not personally overstate things and to try to cite my (imperfect) sources.
Of course I don't know about the 50+ --- as I explained before, I was told "many many more than 30"-- 50 is my guess. You can make your own guess.
The most senior person in the U.S. that Nissan allows to talk to consumers (Anna N) is not that senior and not that knowledgeable, but she does take specific Qs, run them by HQ and come back with answers. She told me that they cannot DIRECTLY count LCs, but the black box DOES directly track VDC off time and other metrics which they use to determine abuse.
VDC off and/or LC does not void warranty, but it does turn off all the self-protect stuff on the car. In that mode, the car is balls out and harsh abuse can damage things. In which case, things aren't covered under warranty. Is this kosher? I don't know.
I just dont think either side of this stupid debate should exaggerate.
