997 TT beats GT-R at Ring. Nissan accused of cheating.
Rally driving and circuit driving do not follow the same concept in the least. Try to cross examine benefits from the rally course to the street cicuit is useless, unless we are talking about a drift contest.
BOTH 7:38 and 7:29 runs had the DUNLOP TIRES.
And bridgestones are better in the wet, better than both MPSC and Dunlops, so the GT-R technically had an advantage over the GT2 in the DR test and was suited with the best fit tires for the test.
Chris commented on how the GT-R sturggled with oversteer more than the GT2. I'd bet money the private owner of the GT-R had the most aggressive suspension settings you could get on that car, imagine how bad it would have been if he had on tires that are worse in wet conditions???

Can you provide a direct link with further info on the above sig please?
If you mean no one would buy a GT-R for 911TT money, I agree with you. A better question, however, is why people buy 997TTs for 997TT money........
Mostly rich folks who can afford both GTR and Porsche. For these discerning buyers a car must be more than a mode of transportation. In the end a Nissan is just another run of the mill Datsun while a Porsche is still a Porsche.
A GT-R is Cayman S money. That's a Porsche. Lots of people (like me) prefer the GT-R to the Cayman (even though Cayman is awesome car).

Funny how you went from liking both cars(well sorta) to not even speaking of the Turbo that you cannot get around the track as well..
Glad the GT-R let you become faster around the track which it sounds like it met your needs. So why keep the Turbo?
Funny thing is that you have one that you paid 997TT money for... Sell it and get another GT-R.

As modded, I am actually a couple of seconds faster in the Turbo (I thought I reported that)-- although I'll be at Thill this weekend with Dunlaps on the GT-R for first time, so we'll see.
I don't have a great answer as to why I have both. Prob a combo of mid-life crisis, being spoiled and being enamored with the new-new thing.

That's what my wife thinks. She hates the GT-R, BTW. Thinks it's big/ugly and doesn't feel as fast/raw/loud as the 997TT. She has literally NEVER driven the GT-R, but likes to drive the Turbo (has even done a few track days in it).
I know what you mean. I bought a 97 993tt to keep the miles off the 997tt, now I am looking at a 964 to take the track miles off of both of them. Before it happens, I need to construct a Garage-Mahal.
Well if he's piloting a GT2 then maybe he's not as scared of the TT as some people and his results would show differently than yours.
When I said the TT was intimidating, I was being self-deprecating and modest (you should try it). I get around the track OK-- certainly I am comfortably competitive in the category of non-racing non-pro enthusiasts who buy and track street cars.
Let he who can push a Turbo or GT2 to the limits of the platform at 10/10ths and not have any pucker factor be the first to call me a Girlie Man.
