K24/18g vs Tial GT28 "alpha," what i'v learned.
I'd rather LOWER the boost and take it to a real track anyway

Well, I guess I was looking at it differently.
I was thinking the 60-130 time is not important if you are lining up with somone at the same speed and hitting the gas. At that point, the only thing that would matter is your car's power and your ability to shift.
I agree, if I used the proper technique, I could have a lower 60-130 # but my point was that # doesn't mean much if the cars are making similar power and you're starting at the same speed.
I only got involved in this 60-130 thing after our fun runs and then Vince and Vinod asked me to run one just to see.
I put the thing on my windshield, somehow found a hole in the traffic, slowed to 55mph and floored it - not a lot of technique

. I know this!!!So when you decide you really want to try to get a decent number, now you know how to do it. For me, it became a competition to MYSELF to learn how to drive my car better and run better times, thats the only reason I really cared. After many, many, many tries and not improving, I figure I'm driving my car to best of MY ability, and my times are respectable for my mods. You will be there too, when you care
ttboost - I totally agree with you. I'm not into street racing but agree there is a lot of technique to it.
I'm kind of an older fart compared to the rest here (as far as I can tell)!
And to Divexxtreme, the "real track" comment was intentional and had the desired effect
It was a joke, I know how pissed off drag racers get when people start calling road coarse stuff "real tracks". Just trying to add a little humor to the conversation.

I absolutely did not miss your point Jason. You however are missing ours. My car with 24/18G's, exhaust and injectors ONLY, ran 6.6-6.8 ALL the time. I belive you have the EXACT same car. Like it or not, you're not driving correctly to MAXIMIZE your 60-130, thats all. That does not mean your car is slow by any means, your just not making it perform where others may be. I guess our point is (whether you believe it or not): if you race someone, with the same mods, who is quicker 60-130, you will get beat by whatever length it is, be it 1 cars or 21 cars. You HAVE a fast car tuned by the SAME tuner that tuned MY car with the same mods. Absolutely no offense here, it's just how you're driving it. I've told Vince and Vinod both, how to do these 60-130's, starting at 50mph is NOT the right way. To add to that, I'm personally impressed your running 8's starting at 55!!!!
Mike, I ran from 30 mph 3rd gear still ran 8.8 sec 60-130. My car is dead even with Jason's car. I think we need to do about 10 runs or so to fall in the zone. I will go out and try later this weekend and report back. My car doesnt have a race gas file and it stock weight. Hopefully i should be atleast in the low 7 sec.

My car has NEVER had race gas in it. Pump only. Then pump/meth for the last couple months. I highly recommend practicing this, if you really want to net a decent time. However, running a bunch of back to back runs will likely net you slower and slower times due to heat soak. I learned that with my car. Water/meth injection helps that a GREAT deal. I usually go out make 3 runs. Go out a little while later, do 3 more runs etc, etc...
Bottom line is this, if you have 18G's with injectors or a 5bar, your car is capable of high 6's, at LEAST VERY low 7's. Just takes practice. I gained over .5 seconds with no changes other than practice. You will run a bunch of 7.0-7.2's and all of a sudden...BAM a 6.8...

Agreed.
Until you go out and make a dozen or so attempts, you won't have enough data and practice under your belt to know where you can improve.
Good luck!
It is a lot of fun, just keep an eye out for "the Man"!
.. cars feel lot stronger than flashed 997tt i have driven. Just no comparision.I am going to try many more runs... what more puzzling is the GT28 tip car runs the same...not sure there is much technique there.

Here is Data for the Point I was trying to make earlier...
These are two 60-130 runs from my car at speeds close to what we are told the cars in question can run . They are performed entirely in fourth gear. IOW, no shifting variable. The faster run is a 7.51s the slower run is a 8.41s I believe. The times dont exactly match on the graph because the runs start at 58mph. If you download the graph on your computer and zoom in so you can see the distance plot, you can see that when the first car hits 130mph the second car is roughly 40 feet behind. So in giving up 0.9s in 60-130 the loser car is only behind by a little more 2.5 car lengths. However, if the second car was behind by 0.9s in a quarter mile et, this would be a much greater distance. Also if you were talking 4s 60-130vs. 5s 60-130s the distance would also be greater.
