Why did you guys go w/ powder coating vs. painting the wheels? I thought (please correct me if I am wrong) in the past I have seen discussion regarding powder coating process is not good for the wheel due to the heat required during the baking process? Or you guys have a special low temp process for the powder coating??

Looks great and no doubt powder coating is more durable than painting.. but am just worrying about structural integrity of the wheels..

We and many other companies use powder coating vs. painting for durability, etc. We also like the finished look of powder coating. We paint only when we are matching a difficult color to match in powder. We use cold stripping processes and control the time and temperature when baking to ensure no structural changes in the wheel. This has been discussed in depth on this forum. We have been coating wheels and other products for over 20 years with no issues with structural integrity. It's all about staying in the appropriate parameters with time and temperature. However if not done properly, issues can arise and is why we suggest getting your wheels coated at a very experienced coating facility. Thanks.

 

Thank you for the info. Glad to hear that there is a way to do it safely. I do think the powder coating has a better finish and durability.
