Thoughts on this car?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...1%7C240%3A1318

Have a 996 TT but have always had a thing for the 356A's. Thought I would ask the experts for your advice on what you think of this car.

Appears to be very clean from the pictures. Thanks for your help!

Best,

Sanjay

Sanjay,
Be very careful buying a 356. Find a qualified inspector or you could pay many many thousands to get the car right. Right off the bat I see a couple of things that would make me leary. The car does not have the proper engine, single carburetor is not right. Seats are not done properly, steering wheel is not right, paint looks really bad.
These cars have many hidden nightmares and only people that know them can look in the right places. I own three of them and I have bought junk and good cars, believe me it is better to pay and get a good one through a reputable person than a pig in a poke.
This car needs a lot of work, as they all do. The surface coating means nothing, the rockers and longitudinals are very rust prone as are the battery area and trunk area. Very few do not have rust and most have a lot and it is expensive to fix properly.
Check out the Porsche 356 registry 356registry.org and they will outline a lot of info as well as assist you in finding a prebuy person
Good luck
Ricardo

VSE,
Thanks for the kudos,
Also, the correct website for the 356 registry is www.356registry.com not org.

That might not be the right 356 for you, but you are on the right trail with the help of Rocardo.
