i bought one from vintagespeedsters in 2000...$16k, loaded, new engine...went on a job in 03 to s.korea and took the car with me...an instant celebrity...mags, music vids, photoshoots, etc... girls would ask for rides the only 356 of any kind there at the time...3 years later, sold it for a tidy profit too...awesome memories....i'll be getting the ivory one when the economy turns...whenever that will be...
Very nice! I do plan to pick one up in the future for sure as well.

I want one and VW engines, underpowered I have a few friend's with bugs that can prove that wrong. I just missed one, I have a 69 912 engine forthe correct look (at a power loss, BTW)
My mother use to own & race a Speedster back in the 50s

West Coast Speedster and Spyder Replica Owners/Drivers (various - Beck, Vintage, Intermeccanica, etc) meet in Morro Bay, CA the weekend of Friday 4/24 through Sunday 4/26/09 with a small car show and parade through town starting at 9am Saturday - hq Blue Sail Inn
.
RickJ (550 Spyder / Beck-2002)
I'll post a link to photos here once the weekend is over and I've had a couple days to organize and upload the photos - I've learned that the Intermeccica folks will be there with a couple cars so several manufacturers of replicas as well as owners of various manufacturers' 'factory built' and kit cars will be there - speedsters and spyders....

SO ... What is the general consensus on which company makes the BEST replica ... Who is the Porsche of replicas? ... Some of you guys who go to these replica meets should be able to tell us which car maker stands out from the rest in terms of craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail??
Thanks,
Dario

IMO - Intermeccanica is the best - be prepared to dig deep in your wallet - but they make great replicas.....if you choke at their price there are some very very good alternate suppliers:
Vintage Speedsters (So California)
Special Edition (Indiana - bought the Beck distribution for the US for Chamonix Bodies/Frames / Brazil)
.
there are others who get either mixed reviews or with whom I'm not familiar...
