Do you run a front plate on your 911?

just wondering, I got my wife a C300 (W204) Mercedes back in August and haven't installed the front tag. So far we haven't been stopped for it. I do know that I like it on the 911 either and was thinking the same thing. I will only be driving the car twice a month or so thinking it's a low enough risk to try it. Only draw back is you are left with some large mounting holes?

my 911 is almost a daily driver, and i have ran with no plates in the front for almost two years. I live in a pretty busy part of California, you'd think i would have got pulled over but havent.

I think this is a state by state issue.

I have not run front plates on any of my 911s in at least 5 years and never run them on any of my Harleys.

Good luck.

we have a 911 and a boxster. neither with front plates. we bought the bumperplugs "nose plugs" and stuck those in for a cleaner look. we keep our plates in our trunk just in case we get pulled over.

a friend has been pulled over here and they gave him a "fix it" ticket. basically, he has to fix it or the next time he gets pulled over, he will get a ticket. come to think of it, he's received two "fix it" tickets.

you probably won't be stopped for it, and if you are, just tell them that you have the plates, but the dealer didn't install them, so you didn't think you had to.

if you get a ticket after my advice.....no, i won't take responsibility! lol!

best wishes!

I don't have a US front plate; I still have my German plate on front with new US plate on rear.

Gotta represent. Besides, my German front plate is a great conversation piece.

My motto is "Don't give the cops a reason to pull you over"!!! They look for any reason around here, especially if you drive an exotic...

From where you (Pipes) live, isn't it a "sin" to have any form of speed > 55mph?

I got a "ticket" on the 495S doing 62 with the traffic flow back in '01.

I still sympathize with your motto and will try and do better next time.

/wink

Cheers.

I agree 100%! Its not as bad up here, the only place that scares me is from the 695 split to the other side of the horrible tunnel. They will pull you over if your blinker is on for more than 2 seconds after you change lanes!

Angry

My Passport 9500 works overtime in my 87...the cops are around every corner..it's imposssible to drive through Easton without setting it off every couple of minutes.....driving down route 50 to Ocean City is an exercise in counting cops and speed traps. You can usually count at least 6 to 8 staties in the 45 mile trip. They gang up with 4 or 5 cars in one spot and have a dozen or more cars pulled over on the side at one time.

Hey Ryan,

No plates on the PCAR either. Neither do any of my PCAR buddys. I'm sure there's been an incident here and there but overall no one has front plates in my crew. Hell, some of them don't even have back plates...go figure...

I've also got an SC400 that I've never had the front plate on and I've never gotten hasled...I do know however, that there are certain little small cities in SoCal that will cite you for just about anything...I just make sure that I'm doin a buck fifty when I pass through so they don't have time to catch me...JK....

No front plate on the GT3, none on my daily driver and none on my track car. But, I was ticketed late on night recently, after 9:00PM, in downtown LA for no front plate in the M3. It wasn't even a fix it ticket though. Just paid the $25 and still don't run a plate.

Speaking of living in a communist state, the new governor in the State of Maryland wants to put up cameras w/radar so he can catch speeders and just send them the ticket through the mail!!! Ain't it great how greedy our politicians have become.

Sound like Great Britain. It starts with red light cameras and escalates from there...
