914 Door Panels Scavenger Hunt

This is going to be an interesting explanation...

I want inner door panels for my 914, but I find the stock one look rather plain and cheap. A friend of my Dad's has a 3.6 914 with what looks to be 911 inner door panels, you know, the ones with the diagonal stitching?

What type of door panels are these? I like that they have the actual hand and what looks like a side pocket, whereas the orig. door panels are plain and usually only have a strap to pull the door shut?

Any hints?

The door panels you are discribing where made for that car. You to can have this done by an upholstery shop. As far as the panels in your car, it sounds like someone was going for the 911 RS style panel. Originaly your car came with a door pocket/armrest just like the 911. If you like the stitching of the 911 door panel, that can be done on a new peice of vinyl then put the armrest back on. used ones can be found, be carefull of the condition. aftermarket ones are avalible also I believe. If you have any questions about your interior let me know. I can help.

Sounds like you are describing RS style panels. I ended up having mine re-covered, actually rebuilt, new back board and new vinyl for alot less than buying aftermarket ones and they look stock but up to date. I eliminated the map pocket or whatever it is called and went with a smooth clean look. Good luck.

See, I don't prefer the clean style panels. My only problem is finding those big plastic arm rests and bars, as well as the map pocket, but I want that to be the plastic one as well.

RiqueMar,
I understand you do not want the flat door panel. It is easy to have an upholstery shop sew the pleats like the 911 or another design for your panels. As far as the pockets, several parts houses like peformance products, no affiliation, offer new pockets. they are expensive. You can also find used for a much better price. Why do you want plastic? Why not original style, vinyl, foam padding. If you find a really good set of used pockets, have them fiberglassed, then wrapped. Depending on what you are doing with the car, Have some door panels custom made with arm rest/pockets integrated into the panel.

Well, I'n not quite set on plastic so much as it is a rigid handle and pocket, though the pocket would be better described as a map "case".

What's the name of your shop?
