I hate the aftermarket ride quality of both H&R & Eibach springs, (the old Weltmeister 928 springs too), so I cut the factory down by about 1.5 coils & then thread the factory-adjustable spring perches down to lower the car about 2.5" or so. It limits the fronts more than the rears as many 928's run newer 996/997 wheels, where the offset is shy at 50mm (factory 928 offset is 65mm), so if the car is high enough, the newer wheels fit "ok".

By re-threading do you mean just rotate with your hand until you reached the desired height? Or did you have to take them off and actually cut a new thread? I've cut so many spring on old VW's that I've had, that it's not even funny! It's actually a cheap but effective way to get the exact desired ride height for your car. What was it about the aftermarket springs that you didn't like? Cutting the factory ones usually stiffens up the rides almost like the aftermarket ones...............at least on the VW's of the past.
BTW if I got 18x10's on the back. Could I run the same tire you are? 285/30? Will the 1/2" make a difference on how the car rides or how it fits on the wheel?

yes, spring perches are adjustable by hand. I cut the spring to both slightly stiffen (does not stiffen as much as H&R, Eibach), and ensure I can lower the car enough.

Yes, 18x10 with a 285/30 is common on the rear of 928's w/o rubbing.

Cool. How about running the 245/35's up front on my 8.5"? Which tire are you running?

I run 245/35-18 on an 18x9 wheel: no issues. Can't recall the offset, but I think it's in the mid 80mm range.

I show no PM's: PM to me or to Dragonfly?

Mark

Do you think 18X10's in the rear (295X25) with 65mm offset will work? I want the wide look without having to roll the fenders.

I think so: sounds correct. a 10" rear wheel easily fits (with the correct offset) w/o rollling the fenders.
