Smile the Rebirth of a 928....

Im excited to share these images since this has been a very nice project I had the pleasure of being involved in..... this car is a 1991 S4, that was in very good mechanical condition but its exterior and interior were in some need of TLC, my long time friend decided it was time to give the car a nice update:

here are some shots of the car 85% complete:

Without going to much in to detail here is what was done:

1. Full body re-spray in a custom grey color with Dupont paint.
2. Custom made side skirts
3. 928 motorsports rear fender arches
4. 928 motorsports rear diffusor (modified for center-exit exhaust)
5. side moulding delete
6. rear quarter panel marker light delete
7. "Aero" rear view mirrors painted black
8. Rear spoiler painted black
9. Custom yellow powdercoated calipers
10. Smoked rear taillights
11. Smoked front corner lights and markers
12. 928 motorsports long tube headers
13. 928 motorsports x-pipe
14. custom 2.5" exhaust pipes with magnaflow 5x8" mufflers and 4" tips
15. 19x11 / 8.5 Techart style wheels with 295/30 & 235/35 Hankook tires
16. H&R 30mm rear spacer.

im missing a few things but that pretty much covers most of the mods, obviously the car is getting al major maintenance done and covered, and the interior is getting an extreme make over, I will post pictures of it onces it is all done!

May I add that in these pictures (and as of now) the car has still not been buffed / polished... that will get taken care off once everything is finished.

Looking good, but how come you didn't remove the bumpers when you had it painted? Then put new moulding between the body pieces. You had it torn down already. I would pull it now and do touch ups if you have to. It will make a load of difference.

All the panels were removed from the car for paint, even the doors and glass.

here are some recent pictures of the build ..... interior is almost 90% comlete, still need to get the new steering wheel on the car along with a few other bits and pieces, for now, all the trimming and panel is complete and new 3M 20% Film on all windows .

This following week the car should be 100%, including the final buffing and polishing and we are going to try and get a real photoshoot done in the following weeks, we may also do some video clips.

.
Here is where I am talking about. It looks like you painted right over the moulding instead of removing the bumpers and putting new "black" moulding on. It's where most 928 Owners look at when a 928 has been repainted.

Not really. 90% of 928s were auto. The auto has proven to be a MUCH more robust transmission than the manual was.

There is a guy over on rennlist putting 941HP to the wheels with a stock autobox!

its more durable , but much less raceable. The manual is good through 500rwhp. the clutch needs to be stiffened, and the gear box has a weak spot on the main input gear. But, this is racing the platform at full tilt!

No.

I've taught performance driving for 20 years!! Wiggling a stick around is not racing!! The 928 auto will do everything you need on a racetrack!
