Agreed. I bought a 1972 Datsun 240Z for $5500 and did something like this (no widebody... not cool on those cars) but a very extensive resto-mod (2003 Sylvia turbo drivetrain, coilovers, etc) and I'm well over $80k now. Again, I started with a five thousand dollar car. A Jap car, at that.

Just kidding Steve! This would be a really cool project but I think I tend to agree with ZLP on this one, going to be bigger $$ than it might seem like up front. Spend a little time over on Rennlist and Pelican forums and you'll be blown away at what some of these things cost.

If you get a chance, check out Zack's car. I saw it over at DJ's when I was having some work done. Maybe not as bad ass as the build in question on this thread, but one sweet, sweet ride.

What a beast. The car is beautiful too. Not sure what you could get for it. Seems like highly modified cars are not that easy to sell these days. Let me know if you really are interested in selling and how much you would be willing to sell the car for when you decide.

Cool car. But JDM and Porsche should not be used together

I agree. Some people are into all the funky looking aftermarket body kits but I think the stock stuff looks the best. I bet what I paid for a new steel fender from Porsche could almost buy the whole kit in question. Everybody has their own taste and opinion of how to do things right, this is just mine.

Japanese Domestic Market

JDM performance parts are highly sought after by the fast and furious crowd.

I would hold onto the car for a year. Pretty tough market for modified cars right now. I have no idea on what you could get, maybe ask $85K?

I think the market is going to be even worse next year. Don't expect the economy to bounce back for a few years.

Dan, is the actual bodywork performed by no other than Nakai-san himself?

Did you order the Work hoop & face separately like how it is suppose to be done? because Work doesn't make the size that you see on all the RWB cars, Nakai-san only used part of the wheel (i forgot if it was the back hoop or front hoop).
