930 turbo has violent shudder on take off.

Need help with 1983 turbo. Car has violent shudder after clutch released. If any throttle is given before clutch release car shudders and will sometimes pop out of gear. Does not happen with very slow take off. Does not happen if 2 ed gear is used to take off or in reverse.
Motor puts out 350 at rear wheels. Has new clutch ,pressure ,plate fly wheel ,TO bearing and pilot bearing. Transmission mounts seem good as does the motor mounts.Trany shifts great once you get going.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Could be clutch needing cable adjustment, even a little and it'll buck like a bronco..or...
The popping out of gear makes me wonder about shift coupler adjustment as well as age/condition of coupler bushings (any play at all and replace - search 'coupler whisperer' on Pelican for the best) also age / condition of shift bushings in shifter and shift rod...

Check the cheap stuff before digging into tranny and ring gear...

HTH
Cheers
Jason

Thanks for the help. Planning on changing to a new clutch cable. Hope that solves my problem.

Sorry dermcardoc, are you saying violent shudder before clutch release & after? But does not pop out of gear after clutch release under acceleration? Can you tell us which pressure plate & flywheel you chose too.

Thank you - Mark/Pelican Parts

Maybe the engine/trans. is moving relative to the car which could pull it out of gear.

In first gear, the torque multiplication is highest.

I had that happen before, I broke the pressure plate. Put in a new one and problem solved. By the way it was fairly new. Can't launch em too hard.
