I think it is cheaper to find tires for 18's than 17's
I have bought tires for my 944 turbo 18's and my 2007 Twin Turbo in 20's and the 20's were cheaper (same brand) go figure. It is supply and demand. Very few people buying 17" sport/slick/track tires these days.
A lot of people prefer the stock 16's for the track and some like 17's, but I don't know many that want 18's for the track. Tires and wheels are more $ and they are heavier.
I have 2 sets CCW "classic" one polished center, other powder coat black centers, one set near perfect Hoosier R6's, other set more heat cycles but plenty of rubber. Email me for more details crow2245@bellsouth.net
I agree, 17in setup seems to work well @ the track & offers just as much rubber. I would only go 18in if I had enough hp to overcome the rotational mass. Still the factory setup still seems the fastest for a car w/ light upgrades!
I think you maybe right! I recently upgraded to a 17in setup w/R6h's last year & I not as fast as I used to be around the same tracks! I definitely get more grip in the corners, but give some speed on the straights!
