oil pan gasket

Anyone in the dc, md, northern va, southern pa, delaware area know of anyone that will do the oil pan gaket change for less than $1000. So far the best price i have been quoted is a grand. I would love to get this done cheaper if possible and don't beleive i can do it myself.

Having gone through this myself, 1000 seems very resonable. Make sure they change the rod bearings at the same time.

$1000 is a good price to do the pan gasket. Do the rod bearings as well, it is only another $100 or so in parts and less than an hour of labor. Labor is 15.5 hours on a turbo, you have to pull the crossover pipe, intake (to pull the crossover pipe), and crossmember. It is a major pain. A non turbo on the other hand, is a pretty quick job

Doc - would you recommend the 2-piece crosmember upgrade?

If you are doing regular DE events or race the car, then the 2/3 piece crossmember upgrade is a great way to go, and is significantly shortens the time it takes to change rod bearings. If you don't track the car, then you go in to change rod bearings, and you probably won't ever need to go back in there again, so in that case, then no point of really upgrading the crossmember. I change rod bearings every 2-3 years depending on how many events and how hard the car has been run in that period of time. On a turbo car, then you really need to do the 2/3 piece exhaust crossover pipe also, as that has to come off to get the pan off as well.
