951 mods input....

I own an 87 951 that has a few bolt on mods to the car. Currently the car has an autothority MAF with chips, full Speed Force Racing exhaust, Lindsey Racing boost enhancer, HKS SSII BOV, and Fully adjustable Leda coil overs. I am curious about doing a turbo upgrade but want to stay away from having to do anything internal, anyone out there have any ideas on the best/biggest turbo that can be a true bolt on without internal mods? I know Lindsey has several but was curious if anyone knew which would be most compatable with what I have? I am currenlty pushing 16 psi but need to do a wastgate upgrade as I dwindle down to 11 when in higher gears. Any information anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Josh

JWC will become famous soon enough
Josh you may want to check with one of the site supporters such as Protmotive as to what they can offer you for your 944S. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Contact John at Vitesse Racing, he has some of the best turbos on the market right now for the 951. Great customer service as well.

Check SFR they have a nice wastegate upgrade that is a complete bolt on. As far as turbos i would go with one of lindsey racings super series or kokeln stage 5. I have the kokeln stage 5 and I'm currently running 22psi with no problems.

Some of what you are seeing is not all the wastegate, The stock 26-6 turbo wont make much more than 14 psi at higher flows and they also have a large exh restriction. A combo of the two would be best. some thing with a #8 sized exh housing would help. The sfr exh you have is also a good start. As for a wastegate I have a tial 38mm at the moment and it helped some but my 26-6 just can't keep up at higher boost levels. My 60-1 with a #8 kkk housing and stage 3 turbine wheel will be going on shortly. I've been collecting parts till I could do it all at once after I sorted out all the mechanical issuses with the car first. The Lindey racing unit or the tial from sfr are both good options as far as a wastegate goes. The Lindsey part has an advantage in the fitment area and both are about the same price.

Wastegate is next on my list as well. I'm thinking the Tial 38mm is right up my alley.

Tial 38 + K27 turbo + manual boost control is a nice set up - works well for me anyway.

Talk directly to the folks at Lindsey, Vitesse, or Speed Force Racing, and they can really talk their products for your specific needs. You could upgrade the intercooler or the injectors/fuel system too.

i went through this years ago and found that you need to do your research before you pay thousands of $$$ for marketing propaganda.

no turbocharger can spool faster than a garrett double ball bearing. i have a complete turbocharger comparison review and writeup here;
