Speedline refinishing
Who is the best at doing a refinish job on my 3.6 Speedlines? Is anyone able to refinish and retain the etching?

multiple threads about this on rennlist.com unlikely you will retain the etching i believe.

From what I can tell, the etching is in the metal. Removing the clearcoat in itself should not remove it.
I believe the polishing is what does it in. When I redo mine soon, I will cover the etching with tape to ensure it isnt polished out. Debating on reclearcoating as it looks like poop. As stated, a few more threads on Rennlist. Cheers. RT |

Do a search for username "jim dorociak" on Rennlist. Jim does refinishing olf the Speedlines on the side and all indications are he is pretty good. I'm thinking about having mine worked on by him.

I also agree the etching is in the metal. Only removed by polishing, however removing the clear coat with chemical stripper requires you to polish the metal. I think Jim would have the best answer to this. I might have a new set of polished center speedlines for sale assuming someone who posted in this thread doesn't want them in the next few weeks.
