My 2015 GT Silver unicorn was found! -- no need to order!

Yesterday I picked up what I considered to be a true unicorn after searching for almost a year. It is a GT Silver over blk/red leather Turbo S with Turbo wheels. Up here in Minnesota I need the easy-peezy wheels since I will change them 2x per year just to handle the temperature changes. Although I loved the look of the 991 CL wheels and I tried to become a convert of the CL design, they just proved too impractical. BTW I do not store my wheels at Porsche and I have better wheel/tire service much closer than my Porsche dealer. I think the 2015 Turbo S's seat backs are color-matched to the seat front. Also, I prefer the look of red carpet and trim in this two-tone combination; I would certainly have ordered it this way. The more common blk/red combo trim includes black carpet which breaks the color flow IMHO.

Here is the build list which deviated from my would-be order by only a rear wiper and a smoking package:

GT Silver Metallic
Leather Interior in Blk/Garnet (note: carpet and trim in Garnet)
Power Steering Plus
Electric Sunroof in Glass
20" 911 Turbo Wheels
Wheels Painted in Black
Burmester
Premium Package Plus
Illuminated Carbon Fiber Door Sill Guards
Heated Multifunction Steering Wheel in Carbon Fiber
Ornamental Porsche Crest

The dealer changed out the amber lights for clear and threw in a trickle charger and Porsche Design luggage bag. The front end is getting 3M VentureShield this week. I will head back to OH to pick it up and do a 1700 mile trip out to VA and back to MN; a little bonding time

Here are a few photos the dealer sent to me the day before I arrived in OH, and it was absolutely a surprise that it arrived just a day earlier and in time for me. Serendipity? I think not!

ACK!! DONT GET VENTURESHIELD!!!! Please heed my warning and get XPEL Ultimate instead. As a professional detailer who has owned cars with both, I can tell you that 3M Ventureshield is not a good product. It stains easily, doesn't correct well with polishing and doesn't have the same water repellency. XPEL film is much better!

Congrats on the unicorn BTW!

Venture Shield vs Expel...Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply and comment about Venture Shield. I will check around this site and my local PCA group to reach a verdict on which product to use in this age of transparency (pun intended).

I agree you should use XPEL Ultimate. I wrapped my last two Aventadors fully in XPEL, my TTS has 11 miles and is currently being fully wrapped in it as well. The self healing is great, and it stretches good so they can do a really good job without having tons of panels all over your car.

xpel or suntec. we install both and both work well. I would give slight edge (and therefore wrapped pretty much my entire car) to suntec and clearer self healing top coat. xpel has slightly more aggressive adhesive and not as friendly to work with. either way, enjoy the new ride!

Xpel Ultimate it is... now which radar detector?

Thanks for all of the feedback on paint protection film. I am definitely going to use Xpel Ultimate. Now it is time to research radar detectors. I am choosing between K40 and Passport 9500. Thoughts?

I had the 3m product put on at the dealer initially and it looked like s**t. On white, the wrapped fender did not even match the color of the door. The texture was terrible as well. I had them pull the 3m product immediately. After a bit more research I went with the Suntek over Xpel. I have had the Xpel previously and it fine but think the Suntek is better due to them manufacturing the own product and the self healing qualities.

Every top film installer I've talked to prefers and recommends the Suntek. Some of these guys push the Xpel for marketing reasons. Not a bad film like the 3M, but the Suntek tops them all.

STG- I agree. Any specialist who carries both will tell you Suntek is a superior product.
