Hey Scott, have you driven her yet?

Mine just needed plugs and is now running perfect. I'm on pump fuel now and have done a lot of street testing. I have 10 gal of MS109 at home and will give it a go pretty soon. But I'm already thinking of tires. It can't hold launch control any longer even on pump mode. I was even getting a bit of tire slip in a rolling 2nd gear wot but seemed to alleviate that a little with dropping rear tire pressure from 41 to 36. Traction was never an issue pre-turbos.

I like the linear nature of the tune a lot. Because of fuel system limitations my 997.2 has to make its power in a the mid range but boost/power tapers on the top end. The 991 tune doesn't have that massive dizzying torque pull in the mid range, so it "feels" slower, but the power doesn't taper off at all and just keeps pulling all the way to 7k rpm, so I have a feeling it's faster esp in triple digit speeds.

Anyway look forward to hearing your impressions. So far I'm very happy and really looking forward to getting it on race gas and getting her on the airstrip.

Just picked it up today. Got to drive her about 30 minutes on the highway. Couldn't go totally full bore as it's winter although it was 50° so I didn't have to be too too careful.

Initial impressions are at normal boost levels and around town it feels just like stock. Still no noticeable turbo lag and still butter smooth. No characteristics of an event only car.

At wide-open throttle car pulls significantly harder and now if I do a wide-open throttle from a 50 mph roll with the suspension on normal the car really squats hard under acceleration which is something it didn't do before this upgrade.

Won't really be able to fully test until fuel run and it's warm temperatures out west but feels good so far. Very OEM like if not at full power.

Update on my car with CHAMPION upgraded turbos, after Girodisc converstion, took to PBIR road course, temp in 60s, car was brutally fast, heat soak was gone, 165 mph back straight!

On a preliminary (unfinished tune) run, mine had the very same characteristics.
I'll get it tomorrow finished with low rpm torque load tune (my preference) . I'll have a pump with meth tune as well .
Enjoy!

How much power they did it make on the CMS Dyno with meth?

Last run 660, some runs a little higher. I'm told tyres were slipping on the dyno. They are 6 months old Michelin. Keep in mind, this is a 93 octane with meth tune, not race gas, and mine is not an S . A new learning for me was, when tuning an S and non S, the S will put more power as the tune does not write the entire factory program. In my case, after this upgrade, I'm told they matched it.

Nice gain. I'm sure they could tune in for more but they are generally not fond of tuning their customers' cars to the edge

Hey Scott,
How are the new turbos?

Any feedback on drivability, more or less lag, power band, impressions, dyno graphs?

Thanks
Nick

They've been on the car since January and six months later I can tell you they're perfect. There is no difference in drivability whatsoever. They are VTG turbos and they still have that controllable power band like the stock ones. I don't feel any difference in turbo lag.

There is a little bit more turbo sound than the stock ones that's it. The big difference is simply when you put your foot in it the car pulls dramatically harder especially at higher speeds. With the stock turbos exhilaration drops off pretty rapidly and about 100 110 but with the upgraded ones the acceleration keeps pulling.

I put my Dyno graph in thread in my December 14 post - 607 to the wheels on 93 and 655 with MS109.

My race videos are ok my YouTube channel Team RedGutz. Basically to beat mine on a runway you need a highly build car with well over 1000 wheel horsepower.

Very impressive Scott. Thanks for your quick response and helpful info.

I would like I need a test drive when we can arrange that. Live in LI, work in nyc.

Thanks again
Nick

I know you did a number of mods at once but did you do the IPD plenum and high flow pipes. and if you did, can you notice a discernible difference? i cannot find any data other than the non-turbos that can give me data. Thanks
