SM_ATL's Carrera S Journal

An independent shop will typically do this for $50-$100.
Hardwiring is a must if you want to keep the car's interior clean... and if you do not want to forget to turn on your radar detector (do not forget to use a switched fuse -that goes on and off with the car ignition-).
Have fun!

Tint
Got tint done this week by Brian at Sun Tinting in Alpharetta (4th car they do for me, always a great job).
Went for 35% ceramic for side- and backlites, nothing on the windshield. Looks better, less heat during the Summer and a bit more privacy.

Laser Jammer
I had it planned but should have done it before (see the previous post about the ticket I got this week).
I got a Blinder M27 X-treme installed today. Had it on my Cayman R too and it paid itself back quite rapidly.
Install is clean...

...and not too visible either (useful when traveling to certain states )

To be honest, I do it for my own pleasure
Also, there is no other petrolhead in my family, so this is a good way for me to get feedback or suggestions. Finally, the little I know, I learned it from following other people's similar kind of threads.

From my experience with dash problems on 997 GT3 I would not agree with the dealer taking my entire dash out to get the new stopwatch installed. The noises I had to endure after they "fixed" another problem drove me crazy and I decided to get a GT3 RS.

Fair point. From what I have seen the 'stopwatch module' is now being dropped from the top and clicks into the dashboard which would not require to take the entire dashboard out anymore. I'll double check though. Thanks for the heads up!

Porsche Stripes...
I like the stripes on the original 911R:

and how they had been featured on my previous Cayman R:

I would like to personalize my 911S a bit more and give it a slightly more sporty look. I am thinking about doing something like this (sorry about the poor quality photoshop, wrong Porsche fonts, etc...):

Not sure I want to spoil the purity of the 991 lines though. I'll probably give it a try and see what it looks like for real...
Meanwhile, any feedback would be welcome
