991 4S New Car Discounts
#17
The greatest discounts are always at the end of the year on the previous model year cars. It doesn't matter if it is a stripper, very well equipped or what have you (just gotta be willing to do search all that is out there). You can use whatever discount number one dealership gives you as leverage at another (or rather I have) though the degree to which it helps depends upon the dealership's and SA. I actually used the discounts quoted on the new cars to help me get down prices on the used/certified pre-owned cars I was interested in, highest I was quoted was 12% off on a new previous model year car.

Another example - new 2013 C4S, bought in December 2013 (2014s were on the lot). Nicely equipped, nice color combo (Grey/Black), MSRP (including $950 Destination Charger) was $129,825, paid $112,750. 13.15% off MSRP. Had done LOTS of research and had a couple of other similar cars at different dealers in mind, also with quoted prices, so I knew what my target price was. Bought the car that was most closely equipped with how I wanted it.

I just hate to see all kinds of bad information get disseminated here. You're not doing anyone a favor if you tell them that they should be able to get 15% off on a car just because you think that's a "fair" price. They'll end up getting 5% and feeling bad about it because they got bad advice, and they think they should have done better and got ripped off. When the truth is, they did just fine.
On a hot car such as GT3, Targa or turbo the ability to deal is harder but you still can, I did . On a coupe or cab it's not hard in my area and at 2 dealerships I got 7-9%. That's just the facts for my area. 12% on ugly ducklings and close outs also.
Happy hunting!!

It's very state and area dependent perhaps and that's probably some of the difference in opinion. Also if you are not anxious to buy or at least they don't sense that, it helps unless as stated the car is bought by another person.

There is always room for them to move on pre-owned. Considering the infamous valuations they give you on trade ins pre-owned can provide tremendous savings. Some of the well spec'd popular colors/options will go quickly but individual taste and needs can usually lend itself to good finds/deals if you take the time to research what's available.

I would say yes but there are various factors that will determine how much room a dealer has to move, I mean they are a business and need to make profit. For example the used 981 I bought with a 90k Msrp was listed at 80k I got it for 71k which included shipping from the east coast to my door. I had competitive numbers to show them like a new 88k Msrp car for 81k etc. If you have prices for new and used cars with discounts I definitely think you can get some good deals on pre-owned cars.

Right now they are at 13.5% off sticker and this is after only one phone call to the dealer. I imagine 15% is doable.
Will keep everyone posted.

I was looking at a '14 C4S this weekend that had 6800 miles on it, it was a demo, MSRP IS $137,400 and they're offering it to me for $121,358. Is that fair? I would think with 6k miles it would be lower, but it appears any preowned cars look to make that a proper price. What do you all think?
