991 Lease Return Guidelines? Excessive Wear & Tear, Dings, etc
#16
If it would be as simple as going to the dealer to get all our answers this forum wouldn't exist . I would also not exactly trust what the dealer says as they are not the ones making the decision. If you look at previous posts in this exact thread you will see what i mean.

From what i heard and read they can and will charge you if you return the car without the 2 years service completed. I have a 24k miles lease so i had to do the 20k miles service anyway.

True that. What I was trying to say is that one should not rely entirely on what one reads on an Internet forum. Some dealerships (obviously not all) can be very helpful and knowledgeable, and others, not so much. I guess I've been spoiled, as I've had nothing but good sales experiences and service experience with my dealer. Well, "good" if you overlook their pricing... but I digress.
Just got my 90 day guide from Porsche. Hoping for the best once i schedule my inspection.

I just turned it in without having the service done, so I'll let you know after I get the final statement...

Booklet just arrived. Pretty cool they have the specific model you lease and your name in it. Can't believe car goes back in 90 days. Great ownership (leasing) experience. Car is rock solid, no squeaks, rattles, etc. In shop 2x for BS stuff.

Curious about tires. I see the turn-in guide says 4/32" is min tread depth, but what about tire brand? Is it a requirement to have "N Spec" tires on the car?
I ask because my car came with Pirellis, and I'm not a huge fan; so I'd like to switch to Michelin Super Sports, and return the car with those tires on it.
Would that be a problem? I would hope not.

Well, at least for me, it was not PFS. It was a independent contractor that works for PFS. At the time, I had a Turbo S on order with a dealership that I purchased a 3 Porsches in last several years. This was my very first Porsche lease.
Told dealership GM, I don't want any nickel and diming from the inspector, as they always serviced the vehicle. He got me on new 4 tires that were not Porsche approved, even though it was the "same" Conti tire from factory, it was just a model update change, but not N rated*, worn down brake linings, which really had at least 5K miles left on them. Also included the cost of for rotors, sensors and labor. Total was about 2,800. I pushed back, got no where. * I found out that even though "same" tire, tread pattern, the N rated tires are slightly different internals.
No slack from dealership and/or influence to waive any of PFS representatives findings.

It's heart-warming to see how much your patronage was valued at that dealer.

To me, it was not just the 2,800, but the overall experience and their attitude.
The turbo was perfect, only 20K miles on a 30K lease; no dings, scratches, always hand washed by me, and only driven on the street during fair weather days. None of that was taken into consideration. I did cancel my order for the replacement. I paid it off the lease, later sold it myself, as is, and ironically profited 3,500. Took the money and bought an Aston GT, which is another fabulous automobile.
Not to go off topic, leases are only good (to me) if can write it off somewhat on taxes, and its a daily driver. For a car fanatic, who really maintains their cars over and above the contract and service book; leasing has no value. YMMV.
