I was exactly where you are one year ago. I chose to go with 997 tips which are a very simple solution (base Carerra only, not an S) and about half the cost. Found mine on ebay. Cant remember exactly but think I paid about $ 250.

I have the 997 tips they do look nice but they are a bit smaller and the shape is a bit different..
