Is Porsche performance running out of gas ?

My .02. First I love Porsches. Never gets old looking at one on the road. I have been fortunate to have owned 3. A Carrera S, 996 TT and 997.2 TTS. Loved each one. My issue is twofold. They are too fragmented and build too many varients and they charge too much for a great car but it over priced for a car that no longer represents an exclusive brand. I don't care for Ferrari's even though I owned a new 2005 F430 for 18 months. But I do appreciate their business model. They charge a lot, keep production limited and don't apologize for it.

Ditto ... What I was trying to get across earlier when told I shouldn't have a C2S as a non daily driver... Only a GT3 or Turbo are worthy of such an honor... Yeah..

Finally something we agree on...sort of. I don't really like the rear view of either 981 Cayman or Boxster, but I like the Boxster's a little better. The GTS is an improvement too from a rear view. The wing on the 981 is cheap to me and I don't like the tail lights on any of them. And even though bumperettes are a non-European thing, I like them. To me a Porsche without bumperettes doesn't look like a Porsche (too many decades of seeing Porsches with bumperettes I guess). The 981 with the license plate holder with the built in ultra mini bumperette ridges looks and is super cheap.
Where have you been buddy? Just keep lap times out of this thread please! Ha ha.

Ha ha!!!
Just messing with you buddy!
In think with September here, we'll start seeing some more action on the boards here. It's been pretty boring lately.

Actually unlike so many and the OP, I'm not a hp junkie. So I can be satisfied with less power than the current performance standard. Fun is not congruent to 400+ hp. Fun can be had at many levels. Power to weight matters more, as does engineering to make the car more performance oriented. While I would generally never consider a base model, I see the need in the market because so many can't even tell the difference. And mind you, there's a big difference. And just because you upgrade to a S or better, if you don't get certain options you haven't made much of a leap. A base model with PCCB, SC, and PDK would appeal to me more than a S with no performance options.
As for track times since STG958 mentioned it, you have to realize those are typically not low-optioned cars. They typically have PCCB, SC+, PDK, and PDCC if available. So the car you own may not be equivalent anyway.

Almost done with my makeover.

No bumperettes; therefore, FAIL! No, of course the 911 rear is always nice. I'm still undecided about the ducktail. To me a 997.2 GT3 has the best rear end of all 911s. The wing and center exhausts are just too nice.

What good is power if you don't know how to use it? Video Link: http://youtu.be/1pgm8I0B8bY
