Found a 918
So I was at my local dealership today to look for a Macan turbo for the wife and found a new 918 spyder on the floor. The owner ordered this over a year ago and it arrived on Friday. The owner was going out of town for a week and left it on display.
We were able to convince the main salesman to fire it up for a second, what a amazing sound.. What a amazing car. I was told that this was only the 6th 918 to make it to the US, hope you enjoy the pictures.

Really? Is it not enough to just look at it? Unbelievable. The reason why mine wouldn't be on display at the dealership. The salesman must be an idiot to even accommodate that. Well, that's most of them I forgot.

The car was well protected. No one was allowed to get near it or sit in it. I am not sure that starting a car makes the salesman an idiot but just from my time with him, he seems decent. Kevin got a much better close up view of this, let us know how it rides Kevin..

Thanks for posting the great pictures.
I have actually seen 2. One at the New York car show, and one at a car show in Radnor Pennsylvania last month. It is a beautiful car. That said, the la Ferrari and even the McLaren P1 in my opinion are better looking and real showstoppers. Don't get me wrong I would take one of these in a heartbeat if I could but the Ferrari and P1 look even better.
The way the show was set up, the Ferrari was out in the open and drawing a lot of onlookers. The P1(which had already been sold) was just out for display. It had ropes around it and a Guard so to speak. You weren't really allowed to get too close.
The Porsche on the other hand, was out in the open and near the judges stand, and when I was there there was no one even looking at it.

STG, do you know what the conversation was between the salesman and the owner? Maybe this had been discussed, besides I have never heard that starting a car would cause it any harm. I would love to hear it as I am sure most any car enthusiast would, does not mean it is wrong. I think you are to quick to judge as I am glad to be able to see this and great for the op to have a chance to listen to one of these. Thanks steam for the post.
Personally I wouldn't ask a salesman to start a $1,000,000 car that has been sold and is taped off so nobody can get closer than 5 feet of it. That's just my humble self I suppose. Maybe I'm the odd one? That's not something that would even cross my mind. No harm? What harm would a test drive around the lot be?
I watched the above video a while back and it's pretty good! Check it out!

Seen a couple in the SF Bay Area (we're lucky to have so many awesome cars just driving around + Monterey Car Week).
If I was the owner and saw this thread I would be **** that they started my car to show it off to some random guy. No touching, no sitting in car, no starting, no revving. But we don't know if the owner gave the dealer permission or not.

I honestly wouldn't care if someone drove my million dollar car as long as they don't scratch it.
