May have found my car - doing some homework
Happy Sunday morning!
I have narrowed my search to a 2012 991 Carerra S with 46k miles.
It is under CPO coverage till mid 2018. PDK, paddle shifters, PDCC, PASM, well appointed. Nice inside and out. Carfax etc is fine. Drove very nice! Price needs some work, and I still need to see service records. Dealer with a good reputation asking around 80K.
Here is what I am puzzled about -
1st owner put 22K miles in only 8 months.
It was then driven car for the next 13k miles (and 1 year), but not by second owner - my guess is the dealer exec drove it.
Then the 2nd listed owner drove it for 1 year and 6K miles.
1. Is this a problem? Should I be worried that it has changed owners so many times, and maybe was mistreated? Especially in between owners. Since it will be CPO, am I overthinking it?
2. What kind of maintenance should I expect to have already been completed at this mileage? Should it have new brakes/ major service / by this point?
3. Is the IMS issue relevant in this car?
4. Anything else I should look for before inking the deal? Hopefully the end of the year will help me get a good deal!
Thanks for your time,
Super

For a 911, that's quite a few miles. If you move your budget more towards the upper 80's you can find a comparable one with 5,000 miles or under. I would definitely go that route.
You really don't need to buy one with that many miles on it. I follow the market very closely, and there are a lot of low mileage good deal options out there. Especially this time of year. You definitely have the advantage. For example here's just one recent one.

Plus the car you're looking at is going to depreciate a lot quicker with the mileage that already has plus what you'll be putting on it.
Not to mention. Any maintenance issues that will be coming up because of the mileage as well. CPO or not. Especially when the CPO expires.
Spending a little extra money will will be worth it. Trust me!

Wow that is a smoking deal!
I generally prefer relatively local cars that I can see test drive. I worry about buying cars unseen.
Also, having lived in the midwest, I worry about rust in cars from the snow belt.

It's a great deal. But typical of what you can get out there. I did a similar deal this past August.
I would forget about that car you looked at. Start looking at other cars this morning!

You're looking at a 40K plus mileage car that has been beat down. 22K in 8 months?? You've got bigger concerns there than worrying about rust.

Plus you're in California, I think one of the biggest US markets for Porsche. You've got a lot to pick from up and down the coast there.
A lot of guys out West change cars faster than they change seasonal coats.

Check out http://m.cars.com/?aff=national
For $1,500 or cheaper to can ship a car coast to coast in enclosed transport. Airline tickets are $300 to test drive.
Not that you'll have to look that far!
Your part of country has a lot of 911's

That being said, most of the better deals aren't in California.
List the top options/features you're looking for. Including color and transmission. Coupe/Cab.
You should be a little flexible too. Some guys look for used thinking they'll find a car exactly like they'd order it.
