No doubt FI cars are very powerful - the issue is the linearity of throttle response, as other posters have mentioned. The "wait a sec, then blast off" feeling is fun for the first month, then it gets old. Experienced performance drivers want CONTROL - that's where a linear throttle is key. For momentum management, throttle steer etc etc.
There is great potential in hybrids in terms of using the electric motor torque to generate a pulse of power just as a turbo spools up and delivers its boost -- thereby synthesizing a linear throttle from low engine revs -- so actually the future holds great promise as e-motors are more frequently mated with high boost turbo engines. Right now its only in super high end cars - Porsche 918, McLaren P1, new NSX (if they do it right). But there is great potential in this.

I just fell more in love with my 991 4S. It's not that I'm not interested in see what the turbo can do and how performance mod friendly it will be but I am not going to attempt a purchase of any new Porsche engine for the 1st 2 years. I'll see how it plays out, it could be another great 911.

I think this is the first time in my car buying experiences where I'm actually NOT excited about the next latest and greatest and on CLOUD NINE about owning the last of the NA's.

With a +or - 20 for the Cayman/Boxster

Agree, there is nothing like NA motors and high rpm...keeping my 03 S2K, my 12 E92 M3 and probably switch from my current '14 C2S (15K miles already and love it) to the new GTS if in fact is the last NA motor in a 911...

The GTS sure looks like the last NA "street" 911. Don't wait too long to order. Production of cars not already ordered will probably stop sometime this summer.

"But Wheels fills in some details for us, quoting no less an authority than Walter Röhrl in claiming the new turbo flat-six will produce 349bhp in 2.7-litre form for the Carrera, and 430bhp in 3.0-litre form for the Carrera S."

He drove the car and did not like it , I had hoped that would not be the case. Maybe hybrid tech. will help in the 992. Porsche will probably sell a few 991.2s based on numbers alone.

We'll see who's right about the HP numbers when they're officially revealed.
