I am debating this coverage. Mine was offered at $1595 for 5 years.

Nothing says you cannot try to bargain them down further as well.
I told my salesman I did not want any unnecessary upsales, and that I had not had a flat tire in 15 years, and he told me this was a very good thing to have....sure enough, two flats on two different tires within a couple weeks of each other. This is my first car with Pirellis, and I was told by the SA that the Pirelli P-Zeros are so sticky the fronts kick up the nails, and it is usually the rears that get the punctures. Both mine were rear punctures.

There is always lively discussion on the tire insurance policies. Just remember that the policies, like any other insurance/warranty, favor the company writing the policy. If everyone that bought a tire policy made out like a bandit, the companies that issue the policies would be out of business. I usually avoid things the dealer/finance guy is pushing so hard. I figure if he is pushing it that hard it must be better for him then me.

That's close to my history also. I should keep my mouth shut because I will probably go out and get an unrepairable puncture next time I take my car out. But, I have had three, 997's and my current 991 GTS since 2008. I have had to replace only one tire because of road hazard damage, total for all four cars. So, if I had bought wheel and tire insurance on each car @ $1,500-$2,000/car, I would have spent $6,000-$8,000 on tire insurance to replace one $450 tire.

If anyone is considering it, they at least have some price references. I'd tell anyone to just try to get it for the cheapest price, and if they can, try not to get it bundled with PDR and other services, which drives the price up even further.
Additionally, on my wheel/tire insurance, I have not "made out like a bandit," just broke even. $240 a year for coverage on all 4 wheels and tires seemed a reasonable risk vs return. YMMV.

If the flat was in the tread, it would be about $45 dollars to fix, and you wouldn't have to replace the other side as well if the treads were too uneven.

I also got the wheel/tire insurance on this 991. question though... If I get a flat in a tire that is just about completely worn to the point where it should be replaced anyways, will a new tire still be covered?
