Condensation on side mirrors

I was driving the car today and was wet mad misty. I noticed the two side mirrors are covered with condensation (actual condensation not just rain drops). The condensation was so bad that i couldn't see and needed to stop driving to wipe the mirrors.

I have the car now for nearly 3 years and never noticed this. Is there a way to override the automatic heating in the mirrors?

Thank you

I think the mirror heaters come on when you turn on the rear window defroster. Why would you want to turn off the mirror heaters? The heaters are there to keep the condensation off the mirrors.

Thank you.

I actually meant to say how to turn it on manually.

Was not aware it goes on with the rear window defogger.

Cheers
