I have and enjoy both, but I prefer the 996 TT. Can't compete with modern technology.

I love the 993's unfortunately can't find a white on black one... but how great is this car as a daily driver being air cooled? any issues if you drive in traffic???

I'd pick a 993TT because the 997TT so kills the 996TT in every dept.

A stupid post on a couple of levels. First, who said anything about a 997TT? Its on a whole different price plane. Yeah, a Carrera GT or an Enzo kills the 996TT.....so yes why not buy a 993TT

Second, the 996TT kills the 993TT in MOST aspects......so why not buy a 964T

Step away from the crack pipe gang-banger.....your boyz want a toke

The truth is they're both great cars......all Porsche Turbos are legends

The choice between these two (or three counting the 3.6l 964T, which is close in price) rests with your perception. I drove the 993TT and saw a car with an inefficient cooling system, VW looking headlights, and a 70s disco-era interior.

One thing you don't want in Houston Texas in July is an inefficient cooling system But alot of guys grew up with the air-cooled cars and they want to have the ultimate air-cooled car.

I wanted more power, more modibility, an up to date full leather interior, and a stylish exterior........not a fan of the VW or frog look.

Drive both, and spend your money.....all turbos are great cars

You're a member of a very small minority if you prefer the 996 look to the 993.

Driving both is certainly the best bet though. 993's are certainly harder to find, especially if you're particular about the color. They're also likely to hold their value pretty well from here on out.

The sales figures say you're wrong.....the demand for 996TTs far exceeded 993TTs....thats why 996TT prices are depressed, they made 8,000 vs less than 3,000

I got stuck with my TTS for an hour in stop-and-go last week when it was 95+degrees. The engine temp didn't move. I also have 100k miles on my 964 in all conditions, including 107 degrees with the a/c cranked for 7 hours in traffic driving from NY to Boston. . .never a prob.

White/black is pretty classic, but I would not be hung up on a color combo. Colors do affect pricing, though. In fact, white/black is almost certainly cheaper than average.

What are the 993tt's worth these days?

I got one with 26,000 miles, pss9's, gaurd LSD, LWFW and sachs clutch making 600hp at the crank that I am considering selling.

Arena Red with Cashmere leather interior.

I think that it's about more than just production numbers. It's amazing to me that even the non-turbo 993s are holding up relative to the non-turbo 996s. You can pick up a '99 996 in the mid-20Ks.

Generally, new models make the previous model look old. In this instance, Porsche brought back the 993 styling in the 997. I think that change speaks volumes.

Both are amazing cars, but the 993 is a piece of automotive art and history. IMO, this nostalgia factor plays a big part in the choice.

Than again, I LOVE the 993 and am reading the 993 board, so my opinion is biased (as are most presented here, I suspect!) Maybe post a similar topic on the 996 board and compare answers before making your decision?
