transmission conversion

Hi all , looking to purchase a 993 manual coupe in Australia however they are very rare.
Can you convert a tiptronic car to 6 speed as there are many great cars here for sale at a much lower price?

Mick

Let me know if you are going to be in need of a transaxle. We have several options to offer to you on this.

Good luck with your project.

???why not just buy a 6 speed to start with???
is the price differential really worth the expense and work?

kind of reminds me of the guys that upgrade brakes and install turbos to NA cars, they end up spending far more $$ than it would have cost to just buy a factory turbo.

I think the OP was saying it was really hard to find a 6 speed car in Australia. Not that he didn't want to spend the money for one.

I do agree with the turbo thing though. Not worth the expense or the reliability issues that come along with it. you're better off spending the money and buy a factory turbo.

How expensive is it to ship a car from somewhere else?
I could be wrong, but I think that buying a tiptronic and modding it to a 6 speed would be more expensive and time consuming than purchasing a 6 speed and shipping it.
