Only on the 996 was X51 a power upgrade. We got X52, the CD holder.

As i understand, there are two options for the 993 ROW models. A 3.8 X51 and a 3.8 Motorsport (same as on the 993 RS).

Although the hp gain is not much, there is much more torque. After I sold my 3.8L 993, I drove a '95 3.6L 993 - it feels Sooo slow !!
I didn't push the car hard, the only draw back is it's a 4 speed tiptronic transmission. if I recall correctly the 2nd gear 125kph at 6000tpm, 3rd gear 220kph at 6000tpm |
