What technique and what gear are you using to get around oaktree? I've never made it out of the 160s on that back straight and I'm braking between the 2-1 marker before T14. So you guys are carrying 10mph more speed before going into rollercoaster... Please tell me what I'm doing wrong!
175mph is hauling the mail!!!
Mike
This is where you use a massive amount of trailbraking to rotate the car so your on the power EARLY brake at the 1 marker, trail the brakes, get that rotation at turn in, and your golden!

or this, its really the same thing, with different wording and depends on how you like to come into the corner...but 930 man is lucky, hes got that rwd oversteer at lower speeds than the turbo(or 4wd) guys dont. I would say about this point, that alot of what people will say how to do things is right and fast, but most likely specific to their cars setup. Youll work your way through there!

this i a very good point that a lot of poeople miss!!!
all these cars are so very different from mods to hp to driving style there is no clear cut answer how to do a specific turn or line around the track...
I gave a description about the track turn by turn I prefaced it with this how I get my 911 around the track... A 89 911, 07 tt or miata would all do different things... Hence my answer around oak tree.... I'm impressed shceng caught it
I worked with David Murry and spencer pompelli two years ago had both racers in my cup car one on sat. One Sunday you would not believe the different lines turn in points brake points ECT that were there ... Both in the same car.....
So lesson is I try to be careful when having a blanket statement about who to get around a turn with out entering all of the information into the senerio..

haha, it comes from the exp of people telling me X when Y is really how one does it in MY car. Its amazing what I have heard certain instructors say to people in cars where literally the opposite may be the best way. This is also why Porsche's racecars are "competitive" (ehem, but need to be MORE in gt2...) are because they are driven completely differently than cars with the classic ferwd setup and do so "well" (again, EHEM with gt2 class).
930man, if you dont mind NOT leaving Tom or me on the straights(well, really anywhere...hahah) in the dust, we would LOVE to follow you and see how to adj our lines a bit...as the experience you have at the track regardless of the car is worth a lot!

+1 for the line following 930 man, you learn ten times quicker following a good line than you will making your own.

I agree, but it is difficult to judge from the passenger seat the real feel of the car and if you are even close to the limit, so instructing cant be very easy. But at the same time, your turn in and throttle application can vary GREATLY on just ONE car from just having more camber and stiffer sway bars, and not to mention tires, coilovers etc.
But most of driving is the DRIVER being able to feel and know these things so the instructor is only to give a baseline for the driver to go buy, general basic points and maybe some advice on what they do that is faster. But I have heard for myself instructors giving FAR too many ORDERS that may not apply to the car/driver they are instructing.

Matt was kind enough to give me a hand with some brake bleeding issues I was having last April at the THSCC event, which was the first event I had ever taken this particular car to! He loaned me his jack stands as well!
Matt, As my buddy Jim McNemar say's, is one increadibly fast and increadibly cool dude!
well Jim has always been good at telling a "Funny" story!!!!!!!!!
thanks for the email address i will send him a note and pay him $50 bucks for the compliment!!!!!
