Do you know if the subfram busches on the gt2 are solid or rubber
Both GT2's and GT3's come with SOLID mounts from the factory. You won't see these parts listed individually on PET because they are only included on the support side section for those cars. If you wanted to update your standard turbo these mounts are available after market.

I knew it!!! Cary thanks for the info, SMR has a GT2 as well as I, we have been trying to find out for a while but no one had a definite answer!
Amazing work you do, keep it up!

Not sure that you can put all that power to the ground on a track!
If I can add a couple of points..
The rear wing that you have is not maximizing downforce IMO, it needs to go further back, rather than high, you will never be able to know unless you put it through a wind tunnel, but from observing the fastest RSRs, they do go more towards the rear.
At the speeds you will be taking some of the fast turns, you will also need a big front lip and rear diffuser. The 996GT2 from EDO needed some important aerodynamic work to be able to put the power (612BHP) to the ground at high speed, otherwise you will have a quite unstable monster.
Also, for this level of power at the track, I would go for a real sequential gearbox rather than the shifter, and use Cup internals at least.. Might be there already, I don't know..
Looking forward to see some lap times.
Great work.
Good input. I've been closely involved with this car and I can tell you this ... there are actually multiple deck lids that will be tested on the car when the time comes. However, remember this is a street car and when the wing gets too far back, people tend to walk into them often. The wing on the car is already pushing it in several ways but, is considered to be the minimal for the job at this point. There is also a splitter for the front and a defuser for the rear not shown in the photo's. The trans in this car is very trick. A full sequential was considered however, it's even stated in the owner's manual that those factory boxes have to shifted every time as fast as possible so, when you're just driving down to the drug store .... you can easily damage it if you shift it slowly .... also.... they are soooooo noisy!!! Just too much for driving around town... More will come out about this car later but, the shifter is very custom and actually allows you to do things you can't do with the cup car set up. There are always compromises but, this system was very well thought out by several people in an effort to have the best of all worlds.
When we get it to the track, if needed, those rear fenders will allow 14.5 inch rims and as big of a slick as we can get on there..... it's all you can do
XXXX Sorry ... I needed to read ahead on this thread... I see the owner already answered most of this... including the traction control ... as I said.. a lot thought has been put into making this car work .... we have our fingers cross ... but I think most of the i's have been dotted and the t's have been crossed......XXXXXX

Everything that you are saying makes a lot of sense. For the rear decklid, I was thinking about something like the banana wing that I fit on my 993 GT2 wing, it can be easily removed, while having a more modest wing for daily usage. The car is definitely going to attract a lot of attention
As for the sequential gearbox, makes perfect sense, it is unbearable on the street and difficult to drive. I fitted one on my 993TT sometime back, it is very similar to the one on the RSR, great on the track and great for fast acceleration runs but painful on the street. This shifter should be very nice but I don't expect it to bring any improvement in lap times, Cartronic do some very good stuff.
Worth paying a visit to see the car in action definitely...
1badgt2, looking forward to see some pics about the steering
I don't expect it to bring any improvement in lap times
The intention was more to make the shifting less mental work when on the track down shifting for an upcoming turn like turn 9 at Willow Springs and under hard acceleration runs on the street. This thing will use up a lot of real estate quickly and even though it takes only a millisecond of thought you still have to be conscious of what gate you just put it in... and as I said, when that thing is cut lose ... a lot is going on very quickly.
The owner of this car is a very methodical and thorough person. He has a really good idea of what he's up against and is doing as mush as possible to really have all the bases covered... This is what makes it just a joy to be envolved. There's always a better mouse trap ... but this isn't a bad mouse trap ...
I do see a A/C compressor so I assume it will have A/C. Does it have power windows??
Or lightweight plastic replacements?
Is Body carbon fiber? I hear you can shave off 500 lbs. doing so.

Not too bad. We designed a custom enclosure for the pump, in case it leaks, and installed the pump. I think the entire project cost was around $4000. Not bad for getting rid of quite a bit of useless weight. I will post pics tomorrow.
Hi your car looks amazing!
This is the way i want my car to look like in version 3.0 :-)
Some minor suggestions.
I see you are using the standard rear "sword" are you going with standard rear engine mountings? I that case I would suggest the RSR/CUP sword instead and solid RSR mountings that are lighter and better in every way in my opinion. I send a picture from my car.
Outstanding! The way they should have been from the factory. I have been thinking about doing this for months now. How easy was it to adapt?
Thanks.
Do so I done the same!
If you dont want to spend 4000$ on a electric power steering I would suggest you to use the one from a Mercedes A-class.. Used in my car and the race cars in Hubert Berghs team for example! Works great and is much cheaper! I say it would only take some hours to get it there! Then it take some more time to rip of all the old hydralic hoses and the pump!
If BadGT2 are going with solid mountings I would suggest the Porsche original PET catalog RSR/CUP front tranny mounting that I think is lighter and better than a standard rebuild!
this is such a fun thread to read. I can't wait until this car is finished to see some video of it in action. This car would make for a beautiful feature peice in a magazine such as Excellence. Have you contacted them at all, or have they contacted you?

Thanks for the lead BTW I did drop by and say hello to your mechanic during the 24hours race. They had some bad luck.

That is fantastic work, thanks for the pictures. Also your brake ducts are simply perfectly made!
I see a black 993 in the back in one of the shots, is it another of your builder's wild creations?
